ANSWER: The answer is ‘YES’ and ‘NO’ in that eternal security is biblical, but not in that, it can be lost also as balanced in the Bible.

Eternal security preachers take their scripture from the book of Romans 8:28-39 let us read these verses 30 and 34-35 and 37 and 39.

30: “Moreover whom he did predestinate them he also called and whom he called them he also justified and who he justified them he also glorified…
34: Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died and rose again; who is at the right hand of God; who also makes intercession for us
35. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword?
37 Nay; in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us
39: Nor height nor depth nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”

The idea of eternal security says that once you are saved you are saved forever and eternally secured
In talking about sin position it says that the believers’ sin in the past, present and future is forgiven.

This is not true but contradicts the Bible truth of sin unto death:

1 John 5: 16-18

“If any man sees his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is sin unto death; I do not say that he shall pray for it
17: All unrighteousness is sin and there is a sin not unto death
18: We know that whosoever is born of God sins not but he that is born of God keeps himself and the wicked, One Touches Him Not”

Sin unto death is a sin of departing from the faith of the gospel that ushered the spirit of Jesus in the heart of the believer; if the believer does not keep himself from the wicked one:

This means that it is the believer, the saved, that commits it.

Read This In The Bible:

(1) Hebrews 6: 4-6

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partaker of the Holy Ghost
5.  And have tasted of good word of God and the powers of the world to come.
6.   If they fall away, to renew them again unto repentance seeing they crucify to themselves the son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame

2. Colossians 1:22-23

“In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight
23: If you continue in the faith grounded and settled and be not moved away from the hope of the Gospel”

What happens if you do not continue in the faith and hope of the gospel at the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ? This is sin unto death.

3. Hebrew 10:27-31

“Of how much sorer punishment, suppose you? Shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing and hath done despite unto the spirit of grace?
30: And again, the Lord shall judge his people.
31: It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God”

Don’t forget this fact that the love of God is proportionate to his wrath (Deut 28:63).

Yes, Peter and Jude and Paul have such record:

In 2 Peter 2:1-3 and 20

“But there were false prophets also among the people even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies
Even denying the Lord that bought them and bring to themselves swift destruction”
Are these believers? Yes, they are, for it is written that they “denied” the Lord that bought them” This is sin unto death in verse 20.
“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning”

Who are these? Believers who have escaped sin through the knowledge of Jesus but are entangled into sin that they could not escape again. This is sin unto death.

In Jude 1:4-5

“For there are certain men crept in unawareness, who were before of old ordained to their condemnation, ungodly men turning the grace of our Lord God into lasciviousness and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
5: I will, therefore, put you to remembrance, though you once knew this, how that the Lord having saved the people out of the land of Egypt afterwards destroyed them that believed not”.

Somebody may say that the people that crept in being ordained unto condemnation are not born again.

No, verse 5 says they were like the people of God out of Egypt; but because of unbelief, they were destroyed.

This is sin unto death to some believers born of the spirit of God, but departed; fall away; denied Jesus faith, even the faith of the gospel that ushered the spirit of Jesus into their hearts.

The Truth: Eternal security is possible as long as you are free from sin at death or at the rapture (Heb 9:28).

And you are able to confess your sins that are not unto death. (1 John 1:8-10)

For You Must Note That

1. Your spirit man who is born of God and kept in the body of Jesus cannot sin: 1 John 3:9; John 14:20; 1 John 4:13; John 15:4-5.

2. But your soul can make mistake in sin being not yet saved until the last moment of your life (1 Peter 1:9)

3. And your body can make mistake in sin being not yet saved until at the last moment of your life either by death or by rapture (Rom 8:23-24).

Therefore a believer can sin a sin that is not unto death, this is subject to confession and the blood of Jesus washes you immediately. (1John 1:9)

But if a believers sin is not confessed after the Holy Ghost in you has urged you and you carry offence towards God and man; at death, and rapture sin has power to abort the spirit of Jesus in you and your Spirit in Him (Gal 5:19-21; Heb 9:28).

The person pays the cost of sin by losing his salvation through sin unto death or unconfessed sin unto Hellfire.

When Romans 8:35 to 39 gave us a list of things that cannot separate us from the love of God which is the spirit of Jesus in a believer; the list did not include sin.

Therefore sin is the only enemy that can separate you or abort your spirit in the body of Jesus Christ. Do you understand?

God hates sin with eternal hatred; no matter how he loves you; if you sin against him, he will hate you. Be careful of eternal security preachers and try to balance your faith with the spirit of truth – the anointing in you (1 John 2:27).
